Turkey Chili

This one is great for a meal right when you make it, but will also freeze really well for future meals when you don’t feel like cooking.
Cook time: 45 minutes hands on, 3-9 hours total (depending on preferred simmer method)

Ingredients:
- 20 ounces ground turkey
- 19.4 ounces sweet Italian turkey sausage
- 2 (15 ounce) cans chili beans
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 bell peppers (any color) seeded and chopped
- 3 stalks of celery, chopped
- 3 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 slices of bacon, uncooked and cut into small pieces
- 2 cubes beef bouillon
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 16 ounces shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 16 ounces light sour cream or plain Greek yogurt (optional)
- 16 ounces tortilla chips (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large pot crumble the ground turkey and turkey sausage and cook over medium high heat until evenly browned.
- Drain excess fat and liquid
- Add the chili beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste
- Stir in onion, bell peppers, celery, carrots, jalapeño pepper, garlic, and bacon pieces
- Add beef bouillon, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, turmeric, cumin, hot sauce, basil, salt black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika and sugar, mix well.
- Bring mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat and allow to simmer for 2-3 hours, or transfer to a large crockpot and heat on low for 4-8 hours.
- Remove from heat and allow to stand for 20 minutes
- Serve with shredded cheddar, sour cream or Greek yogurt, and tortilla chips.
