About me
Hi, I’m Laura! Welcome! I am a mom of two, stepmom of two, wife of one, and recovering perfectionist.
When I say that, it sounds like I at one time had it all together but the opposite is true. I was so wrapped up in wanting things to be perfect that I got next to nothing done, wrecked my health, and had to work hard to keep moving forward despite nothing being perfect. I took a step back and narrowed my focus to working on imperfectly improving my health. This is where you can follow me on my journey.
I’ve started this blog a few times and then scrapped it when it wasn’t perfect. Eventually it morphed into a really helpful tool for me. I am documenting my imperfect journey to wellness with occasional thoughts and musings. What I always imagined was that imperfection could be refreshing and freeing (hence the title of my blog), but struggled to truly embrace it. Right now I am there, but I am nothing if not inconsistent.
This blog helps keep me on track. Whether it brings a smile to your face or gives you ideas for things to try, my hope is that this blog will help others as it has helped me.
Here is the cast of characters that might show up in my posts on occasion:
Me: See introduction above
Jeff: My husband. On a good day I look at him and wonder how I got so lucky. On a bad day I look at him and wonder how he got so lucky. Fortunately we have a lot more good days than bad.
Big J: My stepdaughter. She is in college. Soft spoken and kind, but also willing to stand up for what she believes is right, she is amazing. I am thrilled that my daughters have her to look up to.
Little J: The pseudonym is misleading. A high schooler and taller than his already tall father, towering over me since he turned 12 years old, there is nothing little about Little J. He loves motors and engines, video games, and is the most good natured person you could ever hope to meet.
Big A: The older of my two daughters. Fiercely competitive and spirited, she has a heart of gold and cares deeply about things being right and fair. She is an elementary schooler on a mission.
Little E: My younger daughter. Cute as a button and kinder than kind, she is destined to make the world a sweeter and better place. She is a free spirit who can’t get enough of kittens and puppies.
